This research developed as a branch of my [Theatre of the City](https://artemalexandrov.com/theatreofthecity?hsLang=en) project. I cross-referenced the list of architecture monuments of Rostov-on-Don with that of 'buildings in disrepair' - and found matches! Such hits were the historic buildings recognised for their value, but in such a poor state they had to be either renovated or demolished. Without any budget or intention to repair them, they were left in legal limbo - buildings to be preserved AND torn down. This is the heritage of Rostov. As years go by, its bricks crumble. We must act before it is too late.       ## Смерть наследи(ю/я)! Это исследование - ответвление от моего проекта ["Театр Города"](https://artemalexandrov.com/theatreofthecity?hsLang=en). Сопоставив списки реестра ОКН Ростова-на-Дону со списком аварийных зданий, я нашёл совпадения. Это были исторические здания, заслуживающие охраняемый статус архитектурного наследия. Но из-за их плачевного состояния, их ждали либо реконструкция, либо снос. Без бюджета на ремонт, без усилия властей, такие здания остаются в юридическом лимбо. Эти здания идеальны для музея И для сноса. Вот оно, наследие Ростова. С годами кирпичи ветшают, а балки гниют. No benevolent patrons. With such starting conditions, the solutions can be simple - occupation. Through a process of a slow (temporary) occupation, the means to support and restore the ruinous monuments are found over a long time. Public workshops and volunteer efforts help the forgotten treasures of the city to resurface. Such was my proposal for a conversion of the House of Guderman into a theatre. The scheme envisions overtaking the monumental ruin in stages over a decade, slowly making the buildings safe for public and useful for its users. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Никакого бюджета. Никакой поддержки властей. Никаких меценатов. При таких стартовых условиях решение может быть простым – захват. В процессе медленного (возможно временного) захвата находятся средства для поддержки и восстановления разрушенных памятников. Воркшопы и волонтерская деятельность помогают забытым сокровищам города вновь показать себя. Таково было мое видение превращения Дома Гудермана в театр.
